Who we Support
Many of the students at Tuition Extra have Additional Educational Needs and Disabilities, including communication and interaction requirements with associated social, emotional and mental health needs.
We support children and young people with a range of undiagnosed and diagnosed needs including ADHD, ASC, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and sensory, auditory and memory processing needs.
We support children and young people to develop self-belief and confidence to recognise their fluctuating needs and express them safely.
In addition, we support individuals with medical needs and long-term health conditions to achieve their goals, aspirations and to access education.
Our Approach
We value and celebrate every child and young person for who they are, building trust and strong relationships that create an environment of respect and a sense of belonging.
A large number of our students experience high levels of anxiety and have been out of formal education for significant periods of time. We understand that for some young people, full-time education can be difficult, particularly following a period of illness, absence or disengagement. We remove barriers to learning through tailored 1-to-1 tuition, designed to capture each individual’s unique interests, aspirations and requirements.
We understand the connection between emotional development and a young person’s ability to access effective learning. We believe that every young person, regardless of circumstance, can make progress and become a more successful learner, improving opportunities and changing young lives for the better. Education and well-being are key to a positive future. Using strategies to harness emotional development and therapeutic well-being, enables our students to achieve aspirational outcomes.

SENCo
Holly Wilkie
Hello, my name is Holly, I am the head of SENCo at Tuition Extra. My job is to make sure you are getting your needs met either with tuition and/or therapeutic support. I enjoy meeting our young people and understanding more about what you want and need me to do to support you with this stage of your educational journey. As a young person, I found school very difficult. I use my own experience to work in a relational way that supports you.
